We create beautiful homes that reflect the personailites of the people who live in them.

Design Consultation

The first step is a meeting in your own home to discuss your potential renovation. We will discuss how you’d like to use the space and how to improve the function. We take the time to listen, to learn what inspires you, how you like to live, and what makes you feel most at home.

Design Concept Packages

Wondering what your renovation might cost or look like before jumping into it? We work with you to flesh out a detailed budget as well as a proposed layout plan and initial concept board. We’ll show you what it would cost to do the project from start to finish.

Design Project Management

Our scope consists of both design and project management services, ensuring that every project is executed and completed with the attention to detail. Our processes have been honed with years of experience. We manage every aspect of our projects in a highly efficient and organized manner, giving our clients peace of mind so they can enjoy an exciting and stress-free design process. We bring with us a talented team of professionals that can execute your renovation from the initial planning stages, to permit application, through construction.

Hourly Rate Design Consultations
For clients seeking a customized approach to design, or more of a consulting format, we also offer our services at an hourly rate. This approach is often appropriate for clients who plan to purchase individual items over an extended period of time; those who have been actively sourcing merchandise on their own and need assistance during the decision-making process; or clients interested in having a project manager oversee their construction or renovation projects.

Smithly Muir is a reflection of two very special places.

Smith Rock is located in central Oregon's high desert. It boasts breathtaking views of the volcanic rocky peaks of Oregon's Cascade Range. Muir Beach, is found at the end of a twisty forested road that leads to a sandy cove, just outside of San Fransisco’s Golden Gate Park. These two drastically different landscapes are a constant source of inspiration for the interiors we create. Thus, the inspiration for the name Smithly Muir.

Upon completion of a degree in Art History, Julie left for India and worked as a textile designer bringing collections of soft furnishings to homes throughout North America. Yearning for more experience in the art world, Julie began a career at a distinguished gallery in Vancouver, building art collections and curating exhibits of some of Canada’s best known painters.

Fast forward ten years, Smithly Muir was born and a full service firm specializing in residential design was launched. Julie’s attention to design details, paired with her personal desire to live a creative life, and a deep desire to make clients dream homes a reality - are the founding principals at Smithly Muir. Her appreciation for classic and contemporary elegance can be seen throughout the work that she does for her clients.

“My career has been built on learning and understanding my clients' needs for beautiful, yet functional homes. I am truly grateful for the time that I get to design homes that reflect the personalities of the people who live in them”
